Bhajiyas or pakoras are a bitesize Indian fried snack made with gram flour and another core ingredient, we are using onions.
It can also be daal, paneer or veggies. These bhajiyas are super quick and easy to make anytime. This recipe makes for the perfect delectable afternoon snack or when that unexpected guest comes round! We love making them on a rainy day (we have many of them in England) with some karak indian tea because they act as the prefect comfort food!
If you want your bhajiyas to be a little healthier, you can air fry or bake them in paper or silicone cupcake cases with a dash of oil.
Ingredients
Directions
Here's the step by step method for the bhajiyas, all you do is chuck it all in one bowl!

In a large mixing bowl, measure out all the ingredients and add the all to the bowl. Mix them all in well. All the ingredients should be evenly distributed
Gradually add in the water and mix well. If the batter seems too watery, add a little more Chana flour (don't add too much). It should be just the right consistency to loosely form a ball in the oil. Watch the YouTube video for reference.
Preheat the oil on a high heat and then turn it down to a medium heat to start frying

Using your hands or a spoon to make bitesize balls and place them in the oil. Occasionally turn the pakora and fry till golden brown.
Ruky TipIf your bhajiyas go golden too fast, the inside won't be cooked. Turn the heat right down and wait for the oil to cool down a little. Then continue frying
You could do one test round with just a couple of bhajiyas to see if they are cooking properly, taste to see if the potatoes are cooked!
Conclusion
Enjoy with delicious green coriander and mint chutney. It tastes even better with a nice cup of hot karak indian tea!
