Achari chicken, a classic that never disappoints. This quick and easy dish can be had with flat bread (chapatti) or together with our chickpea rice recipe – a perfect combination, in our opinion.
This is an extremely popular chicken recipe made using yogurt, Indian masala’s and achari spices.
Achari chicken is perfect for a warm weekend dinner or for a family dinner, when you want to make something extra special for the family! This particular chicken recipe is known for its aromatic flavours due to the mix of spices incorporated in the dish, hence the name achari – literally meaning spicy or pickle.
Ingredients
Marinade
Chilli Stuffing- optional
Soup
Directions
Here's our quick and easy step by step method for Achari Chicken. Don't forget to send us a picture if you give it a go!
In a large bowl, add in all of the marinade ingredients.
Ruky Tip
We always recommend using a large bowl because it makes it much easier to incorporate all of the ingredients and it makes sure that all of the spices are evenly distributed across the chicken
Turn the stove on to a medium heat and in a large pan, add in the oil
Once the oil has heated a little add in all the marinated chicken and stir well to ensure it does not stick to the bottom of the pan
Using a temperature probe, check if the chicken has fully cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 75 degrees. If it has not reached 75 degrees, then add in a little water and let it cook for longer.
Once the chicken has fully cooked through, add in the tomato and stir well. Cover with the lid until the tomato has fully cooked.
Ruky Tip
You will know the tomato is cooked when the tomato separates from the oil and the oil comes to the top of the pan!
Whilst the tomato is cooking, you can begin to mix all the chilli stuffing ingredients together. Once you have mixed all the chilli stuffing ingredients together, take 5 green chillies and make a slit all the way down to the bottom. Remove the seeds of the chillies. An easy way to remove the seeds of the chillies may be to use a knife or a small spoon. Once removed, fill the chillies with the stuffing.
This is an optional step
Open the lid and check if the tomato has cooked. If needed, you can add a little more water then add the chillies and stir
Cover the lid for a few more minutes
Conclusion
Serve and Enjoy!
